Self-care - Care for yourself - Feel Better

Do you often feel that you never have time for yourself? Or perhaps you are so overwhelmed by your daily struggles that when you finally do have a moment to yourself you don't know what to do with it. Trust me, I am right there with you at times. We all go through busy phases and we all go through lulls throughout the day, but what comes to mind when you think of "self-care" or "me time?" Think about what you could do to bring more joy and peace into your life. Perhaps its as simple as sitting down for dinner or listening to your favorite true crime podcast with zero interruptions. Self-care is truly a blessing, it has the potential to help bring serenity, focus and love back into your life (whatever those things mean to you)! Think about it, when you put a bit of time and effort into yourself, it is then that you are able to express your authentic self and allow your beautiful soul to widely project itself.

Let's dabble a bit and try a few different self-care routines or rituals to figure out what tickles your fancy. After all, you may find that it's just what you need to put that extra pep in your step!

I for one, love a good vinyasa yoga session (the movements flow together beautifully). Don't think for one second that I am some yogi pro, quite the opposite actually (I respect the craft and would freaking love to be a yogi pro one day). It makes me feel good, I crave the release it gives me. In my last blog post, I spoke about pent up aggression, stress and anxiety manifesting itself in your hips (check it out), yoga is a phenomenal way to release that dirty energy.

Journaling can be awesome if you feel you have a lot on your mind, or heck, even if you think you have nothing to say. You'd be surprised what pops out when you sit down and focus on solely yourself. Imagine for a moment, a cool summer morning, birds chirping, you have a cup of java in hand and you're on your way to the front porch for your daily journaling ritual. What a vision! Journal entries can be in any type of form, you are free to express yourself. In fact, word vomit all over the page is encouraged! You could write poetry, a honey dew list, find gratitude or scribble “F***” all over the page to get that aggression out (extreme, maybe, but not for some). You do you, sugar. Finding the time to gather your thoughts is an amazing form of self-care. Your mind is so complex at times, help purge what your soul no longer needs to hold onto.

"Exfoliation Thursday" is one of my favorite self-care routines! I know, it sounds ridiculous. If exfoliating isn't for you, that is totally fine. You could paint your nails, take a bubble bath or even comb your beard. Whatever kind of beauty treatment you are in the mood for. I like to exfoliate on Thursday because it's mid-week. My thought behind it is that I am shedding whatever negative emotion, stress, or toxicity that has attached itself to me thus far. Giving myself a fresh start! Not to mention, it's phenomenal for the skin (vibrant skin, moisturizer is more effective, improves texture, minimizes pores, and prevents clogging by removing dead skin)! This renewal process isn't just for my skin but for my peace of mind as well. Treating yourself to a beauty regiment boosts self confidence and believe me, we are all here for it; strut your stuff!

I could go on and on about various selfcare routines I do, but in all honesty, everyone is different. Think about what you enjoy doing, or what you are meaning to do but claim you never have the time for. Self-care can be a mid-day coffee run, or even better, a mid-day Target run. Window shopping can be the best medicine for shaking that negative energy off. Disc golfing with your buds could be the selfcare you need to help get you through the week. I challenge you to take some time for yourself this week (10 minutes minimum daily) and take notice to how you feel by the end of the week. What changed for you? How do you feel?

Create good intentions for yourself & remember to breathe deep, you are worthy.
